Mental Diseases in Women


Nowadays, mental diseases are very common in people, specially in women. Recent researches have proved that at present a major percentage of people suffering from different types of mental diseases are women. There are several reasons behind the higher percentage of female mental patients than men and the percentage is likely to increase in the future. Effects of domestic violence, sexual problems and sexual violence are the most common reasons behind the occurrence of mental diseases in women. You will find large number of women suffering from various mental diseases that are outcomes of recurrent mental and physical tortures from their family members, specially husband, fiancee or boy friend. Besides, mental distress, anxiety, shock and phobia also lead to mental diseases in women quite often. However, apart from these, mental diseases in women also creep in due to biological and psychosocial factors.

Speaking about mental diseases in women it has to be mentioned that mental diseases are disturbances or disorders that occur in the brain due to various reasons.

Unlike physical diseases, mental diseases do not occur due to things like bad eating and drinking habits, abnormal lifestyle and irregularity in daily routine and are not cured very fast through medication. If not treated in time, some of the mental diseases in women often lead to severe consequences.

Schizophrenia is one of the most critical mental diseases that large number of women all over the world suffer from. There are different patterns of Schizophrenia that attack and recent researches have proved that in most cases phobia or panic is leading to the occurrence of this fatal mental disease in women. A major percentage of female mental patients are actually victims of Paranoid Schizophrenia. The most common symptom of Paranoid Schizophrenia are suspicion among the patient about everybody, specially the close ones. Patients at this stage suffer from hallucinations and delusions. Residual Sshizophrenia is also very common among women. At this stage patients lack motivation in their day to day living and suffer from hallucinations and problems of disorganized speech delivery and behavior. Schizoaffective disorders like disturbances in mood, depression, bipolar mania are also common symptoms that are noticed in majority of female mental patients.

Apart from these, some of the other common mental diseases that affect women are borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. However it is important to mention that all these mental diseases are curable if detected in time.
