Dengue

Dengue is often referred as one of the acute febrile diseases that mainly spreads over the tropical climatic regions of the earth. Many cases of the outspread of Dengue have been recorded in the countries such as the likes of Brazil, Singapore, India, Taiwan and many other nations with tropical climate. Dengue fever has been a major concern for a number of nations as it can spread at a very fast rate even in the urbanized areas. Belonging to the genus Flavivirus and the family Flaviviridae, there are four type of specific viruses that causes dengue in an individual.

Dengue is transmitted from one human to the other by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The mosquito is known for feeding during the day time only. Dengue is quite infectious and the presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito can certainly increase the probability of spreading the disease at a very fast rate. A person suffering from dengue sustains high fever and usually shows the symptoms, like acute headache and muscle pains. The patients also suffer from acute pain in the joints as well as in the muscles.

The infectious disease also results into body rashes.

Rashes like red colored petechia can be seen on the infected individual's chest and also on the lower limb. In some of the cases the rashes also appears on the whole body of the patient. In a number of cases patients suffering from dengue also have gastritis problems and that may result into abdominal pain. Patients of dengue are also reported with symptoms of nausea and vomiting. In certain cases the patients may also suffer from diarrhea. Dengue is quite dangerous as sometimes it shows minor symptoms like fever and no rashes occur on the patient's body. In such cases the patients are misdiagnosed by the medical practitioners who predict that they are suffering from simple cases of influenza.

It has also been seen that tourists have carried the dengue fever with them from the tropical countries to their own nation and thus have spread the disease among other individuals. However in such case the disease is also transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquito. Usually dengue fever lasts in an individual for 6 or 7 days. By the end of the disease the fever rises and is often referred as the biphasic pattern. The platelet count of the suffer drops significantly and it stops till the body temperature becomes normal.
