The major diseases of the world are many to name and when this affect a community or spread an epidemic then besides so many things it also harms the economy of a country massively. There are several kinds of major diseases in the world and these have affected each and everyone at some point in life in one form or the other. These major diseases in the world can be distinguished or categorized into a certain group as each of the disease has its own particular features disease is characterized by its own and according to their influence in the High-income countries. The top 10 of the world's major diseases can be named as Coronary heart disease, Stroke and cerebrovascular diseases, Trachea, bronchus, lung cancers, Lower respiratory infections, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Colon and rectum cancers, Alzheimer and other dementias, Diabetes mellitus, Breast cancer and Stomach cancer.
The prevalence of these major diseases in the world also depend on the economic state of the country. The order of the diseases according to the maximum incidence varies in the High income countries, middle income countries and the low income countries.
Coronary heart disease (CHD) which is also referred to as coronary artery disease (CAD), is caused by the accumulation of plaques which are atheromatous and these form in the inner arterial walls which supply oxygen and nutrients to the myocardium. The signs and symptoms of the disease can be seen only in the advanced stage. AIDS or Acquired immune deficiency syndrome which can be counted amongst the major world diseases is basically a collection of infections and symptoms that result from the acute deficiency and inefficiency of the immune system caused by virus. This is the most prevalent in the sub-Saharan Africa.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) comprises of two diseases, one is chronic bronchitis and the other is emphysema. In both the cases, there is a chronic obstruction that disturbs the flow of air from the airways and lungs and the condition deteriorates with time. Asthma which is a pulmonary disease disrupts the normal breathing procedure. The Respiratory system cancer affects all the organs that are related to the process of breathing and this involves the lungs, throat and the bronchi. Breast cancer is the formation of cancerous tissues in the glandular breast tissue. Stomach cancer or gastric cancer mainly affects the small intestine and the esophagus and can affect other organs as well. Alzheimer's and Other Dementias have been estimated in about 24 million people all over the world.
