A nephrologist should know how to regulate blood pressure, regulate electrolytes, administer dialysis and balance fluids in the body. After completing his or her degree and practical training from an accredited institution, a nephrologist may specialize in any streams of nephrology like pediatric nephrology or adult nephrology. To get certification in theses special streams of nephrology, a student of medicine needs to complete additional education and training and pass an examination.
