Ayurveda in India

Ayurveda in India has been long associated with Indian medicare. Over the last few years, people from different parts of the world come to get treatments of Ayurveda Spa in India. Indian Ayurveda has many aspects and has proved to cure even incurable diseases. Facts indicate that Ayurveda is the oldest medical system in the world. The particular term Ayurveda is derived from its ancient Sanskrit roots - ?ayus' (life) and ?ved' (knowledge) ? and comprehensive outlook to a healthy life, its origins date back to nearly 5000 years. An analysis of the historical facts indicate that the main source of knowledge in this field is the Vedas, which is widely regarded as the divine books of knowledge which was propounded in the earlier age, and more specifically the fourth of the series, namely Atharvaveda that dates back to around 1000 BC. The other treatises on Ayurveda that have survived from around the same time, the most famous ones are-- Charaka Samhita and the Sushruta Samhita which widely concentrate on internal medicine and surgery. The Astanga Hridayam is a more brief compilation of earlier texts that was created about a thousand years ago, thereby forming a greater part of the knowledge base on Ayurveda which is practiced today.

The art of Ayurveda had spread around in the 6th century BC to Tibet, China, Mongolia, Korea and Sri Lanka, and further carried over by the Buddhist monks travelling to those lands to other parts of the world. Although, Ayurveda in India still survives in original form, its good effects can be seen in the various new age concepts for modern day medical treatments. According to Ayurvedic philosophy, an individual bundle of `spirit?, uses subjective consciousness or Satwa to manifest sense organs and a mind. Spirit and mind then project themselves into a physical body, which further creates five (Pancha) great (maha) eternal elements (bhutas) ? together called the Panchamahabhutas which actually arise from Tamas.

Ayurvedic Treatments in India are well known all over the world. Among the greatest influence on Ayurveda, we need to make special mention of Sankhaya's philosophy of creation and manifestation. According to this philosophy Ayurveda in India is too old and, its believed that behind all creation there is a state of pure existence or awareness, which is beyond time and space, has no beginning or end, and no qualities. Within a pure physical existence, there arises a desire to experience itself, which results in disequilibrium and leads to manifestation of the primordial physical energy. And the "dance of creation" come alive and gets united together. Ayurveda is not simply a health care system but a form of lifestyle adopted to maintain balance within the human existence, which is further available from the most abstract transcendental values to the most concrete physiological expressions.
